Rick Bowersock is entering his 2nd season as the head coach of the women's basketball team at The University of Northwestern Ohio during the 2008-09 season.

Last season was the first season for the UNOH Lady Racers as a four year university. Coach Bowersock led the Lady Racers to a 7-21 inaugural campaign. The Lady Racers earned the first victory in the program's history by defeating Trinity Christian College in their second game with a thrilling overtime finish and final score of 70-66. During the 07-08 campaign, the Lady Racers earned quality road wins at American Mideast Conference member Walsh University, also at Indiana Tech University, and Midway College. The Lday Racers will enter as full members into the American Mideast Conference in 2008-09 and will look to compete for a league title.

Bowersock comes to UNOH with 25 years of high school coaching experience. With those 25 years, Bowersock reached a personal milestone of 300 career coaching victories. Coach Bowersock had two stops of head coaching experience. The first stop was at Spencerville High School from 1984-1991. While at Spencerville, he totaled 98 wins as the boy's head coach, which is the most wins in school history. The final stop as a head Varsity coach before arriving to UNOH was at Wapakoneta High School from 1992-2002. While at Wapakoneta, Bowersock totaled 110 wins, which is also the most wins in school history by a coach. Bowersock also was the Junior Varsity coach from 1977-1983 at Wapakoneta where he totaled 92 wins.

Coach Bowersock's thoughts on the UNOH Women's Basketball program: "I am excited about the opportunity to develop the women's basketball program at the University of Northwestern Ohio. I look forward to working with the University administration and staff as we carry out the vision for the athletic department. We will recruit student-athletes who will represent the university and alumni with class, character, and a competitive spirit."

Bowersock received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Ohio Northern University. He also received a Master's Degree in School Counseling from the University of Dayton. Bowersock is married to Kris and they have two children, Luke and Lindsay.
