Results

The University of Northwestern Ohio Racers were in action over the weekend as they traveled to Wittenberg University and Defiance College. The Racers lost a close match with Wittenberg (5-4), and then downed Defiance, despite Hurricane Ike's after effects (5-1).

Against Wittenberg, the Racers split the singles play as Jeff Brown won in three sets, and Jason Sarno and William Draur each won their matches in straight sets.

In doubles play, the Racers could only manage one victory as William Draur and Evan Carr won their match 8-6.

Against Defiance, the Racers opened up doubles play with a sweep of all three matches as Jeff Brown and Bryan Wright won 8-5, Jason Sarno and Evan Carr won 8-5, and William Draur and Chris Cash won 8-4.

In singles play, some of the matches were cut short as the rain from Hurricane Ike moved into the area and haulted play. The Racers did get two victories in before the rain to win the match. Evan Carr and Troy Schroeder each won their matches in straight sets.

The Racers are now 2-1 on the season as they will be back in action this weekend at the ITA Midwest Championships at Cedarville University. Action will serve up on Thursday.
