The UNOH Racers looked to stay undefeated as they were back in action on Wednesday afternoon. The Racers faced a talented Taylor University squad at the tennis courts on the campus of UNOH. The Racers got a crucial 3rd set tiebreaker win by Junior Jason Sarno to down Taylor 5-4. The Racers started off in doubles play as Sophomores Jeff Brown and Juan Cardenas won their #1 match, 8-5. At the #3, Junior Chris Cash and Freshman Cassio Sirimarco won 8-4. The Racers went into singles play with a 2-1 lead, needing to only win 3 of the 6 to win the match. Freshman Alexander Hager won in two sets, 7-5, 6-0 at the #3. Junior Evan Carr also clinched a two set match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the #6. The clinching match was Junior Jason Sarno, who was playing at the #5, won a three set tiebreaker 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. From there, the Racers lost two third set tiebreakers to bring the match to a final of 5-4 in favor of the Racers. The Racers are now 2-0 on the season, and will be back in action on Sunday, September 13. They will face Defiance College with a start time 1:00 pm on the campus of UNOH. |
