The University of Northwestern Ohio Racers began their 08-09 season looking to get revenge from last season as Huntington downed the Racers in their first collegiate tennis match ever. The Racers got an all-around effort and defeated the Foresters 7-2 on Saturday morning. In singles play, Racers Jeff Brown led the charge at the #1 position and won his match 6-3, 6-3. Brown stepped up and delivered as he competed in his first collegiate match ever. The rest of the Racers followed Brown's lead as Evan Carr won 6-4, 6-2 at the #3. William Draur had to give a little extra effort and come back to win in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Troy Schroeder won 6-4, 7-5, and Chris Cash won 6-0, 6-4 for his Racer debut. In doubles play, the tandem of Jeff Brown and Bryan Wright won the opening match 8-3. William Draur and Chris Cash won the other doubles match for the Racers 8-4. The Racers are now 1-0 on the season and will be back in action when they travel to Wittenberg on September 13th.
