The UNOH Men's Tennis team played the first ever match on the campus of UNOH on Saturday morning. The Racers downed Grace 7-2 to establish a winning record on the newly constructed 9-court tennis facility on the East side of campus. In doubles play, the Racers took matters into their own hands and came out storming as they won all 3 matches. On court 1, the Racers Sophomores Jeff Brown and Juan Cardenas battled to win their match, but pulled away at the end to win 8-5. On court 3, Juniors Chris Cash and Troy Schroeder dominated throughout the match to win 8-3. On court 2, Junior Jason Sarno and Freshman Alexander Hager fell behind 4-1, but shook off the rust and won 7 straight games to win the match 8-4. In singles play, Junior Evan Carr dominated his match at the #5, winning 6-1, 6-3. At the #4 and #6, Juniors Jason Sarno and Bryan Wright won their matches 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Cassio Sirimarco won his Racer debut with a three set match with a final of 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-3. With the win, the Racers begin the year 1-0. The Racers will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they will play host to Taylor. The match will begin at 4:00 PM at the courts on the campus of UNOH. |
