The Racers traveled to Beavercreek, OH on Monday afternoon to take part in the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Invitational. The event was a 27 hole event all taking place in one day. The Racers got a 3rd place individual finish by Sophomore Scott Denig to help the Racers finish in 3rd for the event, 5 strokes behind the winner Cedarville. Scott Denig fired a 77 in his first 18 holes and finished with a 41 to shoot a 118. Junior Jake Swartz shot an opening 83, but finished strong with a 37 to finish T-8th with a 120. Junior Jason Klaus opened with a 79 at the event, then closed with a 43 to finish T-13th with a 122. Senior Joe Hobensack shot a 84 on the opening round and finished with a 40 on the final 9 holes to finish T-19th with a 124. Freshman Troy Markward opened with a 92 on the first 18, then closed with a 47 to finish in 40th with a 139. For the event, Cedarville shot a 479 to finish 1st, while Oakland City shot a 482 to finish 2nd. The Racers were right behind with a 484 to finish in 3rd. The Racers will be back in action on Friday, October 9th at the ONU Invitational at Colonial Hills G.C. here in Lima. |
