Results

The UNOH Racers competed in their first ever Conference Championships as they played in the American Mideast Conference Championship on Thursday April 30th, and Friday May 1st at Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard, OH. The Racers came out of Day 1 in 6th place, and couldn't climb any higher as they finished the tournament in 6th place out of 10 teams at the event.

The 2 Day event consisted of 27 holes each day, totaling three, 18 hole scores. On Day 1 of the event, the Racers were led by Jason Klaus as he fired an opening round of 72, and on his last 9 of the day shot a 42. Daniel Rex opened with an 81 and a 39. Jake Swartz shot an 82 with a 42 on the last nine of the day. Joe Hobensack opened with an 85 and responded with a 38. Rounding out the 5 was Scott Denig with an 86, followed by a 39.

After Day 1, the Racers were in 6th place with a team score of 478, and were 37 strokes behind leader Malone. Cedarville was in 2nd with a 453, followed by Ohio Dominican with a 462, and not far behind was Mt. Vernon Nazarene with a 464. Shawnee State was in 5th with a 471. In a tie for 7th place behind UNOH was Walsh and Daemen. Notre Dame was in 9th with a 488 and in 10th was Roberts Wesleyan.

Justin Lower from Malone was the leader in the clubhouse with a 106 total. Jason Klaus was the highest Racer in 11th place with a 114, 8 strokes back.

On Day 2 for the Racers, Scott Denig finished his 2nd round with a 78 and fired a 75 on his final 18. Denig finished the tournament with a 239. Jason Klaus regrouped on his second 18 to shoot a 78, and struggled in round 3 with an 83. Klaus's three day total was a 233, which finished him tied for 16th for the event. Daniel Rex finished his 2nd 18 with a 79 and ended the event with an 83 for a three day total of 243. Joe Hobensack turned in a 2nd round 78 and also a third round 84 to finish with a 247 for the event. Jake Swartz finished with an 85 on the 2nd round and finished strong with a 79 on the 3rd round of the event to finish with a 246 for the AMC Championship.

Taking home Medalist honors was Malone's Justin Lower who turned in the top score on 2 of the 3 rounds for the event. Malone finished in first with an 880. Cedarville was a distant 23 strokes back to finish in 2nd with a 903. Ohio Dominican finished in 3rd with a 920. Mt. Vernon Nazarene finished with a 931. Shawnee State was in 5th with a 943. UNOH finished 73 strokes behind in 6th with a 953. Roberts Wesleyan finished 6th with a 966. Walsh was right behind in 8th with a 968. Notre Dame finished in 9th with a 976 and rounding out the field in 10th was Daemen with a 987.

The Racers season has come to an end as they will return to action in the fall of 2009 and will look to compete for a league championship next year under Head Coach Kevin Kitchen.
