Racers Tee Off In Spring At Capital Invitational

Jason Klaus led UNOH with a 161 2-round total

April 7, 2008

The Racers golf team traveled to Capital University to take part in the Capital Purple & White Men's Invitational. The event was hampered by terrible weather throughout the two day event. The Racers shot a team total of 677 to finish in 11th place.

Leading the way for the Racers was Jason Klaus who shot a Friday opening round of 80, then stayed consistent with an 81 on Saturday to finish in 23rd place individually with a 161. Daniel Rex opened with an 82, and finished with an 87 on Saturday for a total of 169. Rex finished tied for 49th. Jake Swartz finished with rounds of 86 and 87 to score a 173 in 53rd place, and Scott Kayser recorded an opening round 83, but struggled in Saturday's round with a 93 to finish 54th overall with a 174. The Racers were shorthanded for the event as Joey Stone had to withdraw from the event underway as he was unable to compete with the flu.

The Racers will be back in action April 11th & 12th when they take part in The University of Findlay - Outback Steakhouse Invitational at Sycamore Springs Golf Club. Tee times for both days will begin at 10:00 AM.
