Head Coach Chris Adams, of the University of Northwestern Ohio Men's Basketball team, announced the signing of DeMarcus Jackson and Dustin Guthrie to the men's basketball team on Wednesday afternoon.

The first athlete to join the Racers Men's Basketball team in the fall is DeMarcus Jackson. Jackson is from Westland High School near Columbus, OH. While at Westland, Jackson was named first team All-Ohio Capital Conference two times. He was also selected as an All-District honorable mention.

"DeMarcus Jackson will be a huge asset to our program in more ways than one," said head coach Chris Adams. "First of all, his ability to push the ball, quickly, from foul line to foul line will really enhance our transition game. DeMarcus is also a quick and athletic on-the-ball defender who will allow us to extend our defensive pressure on the perimeter."

Dustin Guthrie is the second member of the recruiting class that will be joining the men's basketball team in the fall. Guthrie is from Vinton County High School out of Southeastern Ohio. Guthrie joins UNOH with many accomplishments and awards as he was selected twice to the All-Ohio team. He was selected as the District 13 Player of the Year in his senior season, to go along with his two previous years of being an All-District performer. He is a three-time All-Southeast district performer. Guthrie is a 2-time conference Player of the Year, and he also exceeded the 1,000 point scoring plateau while at Vinton County.

"Dustin Guthrie's presence on our front line will allow us to be more adept and consistent when attempting to score in the paint," said head coach Chris Adams. "Dustin has a nice shooting touch from the perimeter along with the ability to be an effective back to the basket post player."

After signing their letters of intent on Wednesday afternoon, Jackson and Guthrie will be on campus in the fall of 2008 as members of the University of Northwestern Ohio Men's Basketball team.
