Final Stats

The UNOH men's basketball team traveled to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday evening attempting to do something nobody has done this season, which is beat the Mt. Vernon Nazarene Cougars. The Cougars are nationally ranked #19 in the country and currently undefeated. The Racers upset bid did not happen as UNOH fell to MVNU by a final of 81-64.

Quick starts have been the Racers strength in their first season, but Tuesday evening was a different story. The Cougars stampeded out to a 25-5 run in the first 10 minutes of the contest as the Racers opened with 2-13 from the field to go along with 5 turnovers. The lead would hang around 20 points for the rest of the first half before MVNU's All-American Ben Falkenberg capped off the first half with a three pointer to extend the lead to 26 with a score of 44-18.

Things didn't get any easier in the second half as the Racers would fall behind by 34 points at 64-30. UNOH expressed something that they have done all season, which is there is no quit in these Racers. The Racers would regain momentum the rest of the game to cut the final score down to 17 with a final of 81-64.

Leading the way for the Racers was Aaron Braun with 14 points. Josh Vorst also chipped in 11 points to round out the scoring. Excellent shooting and upper classmen leadership proved to be too much for UNOH as MVNU's Senior All-American Ben Falkenberg poured in 25 points. Jadin Thomas chipped in with 15 points. Connor Gregg rallied in the effort with a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

The Racers fall to 1-7 on the season while the Cougars move to 5-0. The Racers will be back in action Tuesday, December 4th against #14 Notre Dame College at Racer Gymnasium on the campus of UNOH. Game time is set at 7:30 PM.
