The UNOH Racers traveled to Shawnee State University looking for their first victory of the season competing in the SSU Tournament. The Racers first road trip of the season tipped off Friday night with a match up against Shawnee State. In a high scoring affair, the Racers fell short of SSU and Josh Reed's 33 points by an outcome of 90-80.

The SSU Bears started the game off with a quick outburst of 5-0. The Racers quickly responded with a run of their own by gaining the lead at 12-9. With each team battling back and forth, the game was tied at 22-22 with 7 minutes remaining in the first half. The bout continued as the teams entered the half with the Racers on top at 38-34.

With 16 minutes remaining in the contest, the Racers went on a 9-0 run in the next minute to take a 56-46 lead. After a brief timeout, the Bears responded with a 7-0 run of their own. With 6 minutes left to go, the game was knotted at 69-69. Costly turnovers and questionable calls down the stretch ended the Racers bid for their first victory of the season. In the final 3 minutes of the game, the SSU Bears ended with a 15-8 run.

The Racers put 4 players in the double figures in Friday's contest. Leading the way for the Racers was Aaron Braun, Braun finished with 22 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the field, and 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Coming off the bench and totaling 21 points was Jason Sarno. Sarno made it rain from three point land as he was 4 of 5 from behind the arc and 7 of 7 from the free throw line. Also in double digits was Isaac Bowers and Josh Vorst scoring 12 and 11 points, Vorst also led the assist attack with 5. Crashing the boards was Kyle Gillette and Brandon Miller with 9 and 8 rebounds. The Racers finished the game with 53% shooting from behind the arc, and 76 % from the free throw line.

The SSU Bears were clearly led by Moorehead State transfer Josh Reed, who poured in 33 points off of 11-21 shooting and 9-10 from the free throw line. Finishing with a double-double was Justin Brinkman with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring was Justin Patrick and Aaron Davis with 14 and 12 points.

The Racers fall to 0-3 on the young season, and SSU moves to 1-1. The UNOH Racers will be back in action Saturday November 17th against Muskingum. Game time is set for 1:00 PM at Shawnee State University.
