Racers Struggle Against Indiana Tech

Gillette led Racers with 18 points

Feb. 12, 2008

Final Stats

The Racers traveled to Indiana Tech on Monday evening hoping to revenge their season opener loss to the Warriors. An excellent shooting performance by the Warriors throughout the game denied the Racers any shot of getting their 10th win of their first season back in action. The Racers fell 108-66.

The first half set the tone for the evening as the Warriors were lights out from everywhere. They made 8 of 12 three pointers, made all 7 free throws and were 12 of 19 from the rest of the field. The Racers displayed the complete opposite as they were 1 of 8 from behind the arc and only 1 of 2 from the free throw line and 12 of 26 from the rest of the field. The shooting difference buried the Racers at half in a tough hole at 55-28.

The second half displayed the same performace in the first half as the Racers couldn't muster a comeback after the break. The Warriors made 24 of 29 free throws in the second half to complete the defeat of the Racers.

Leading the way for the Racers was Kyle Gillette as he totaled 18 points. Josh Vorst had 13 points and Jason Sarno had 12 to round out the double digit scoring for the Racers. The Warriors were led by Senior Anthony Jones and his 34 points, including 6 of 7 from three point land.

The loss will deny the Racers of a double digit victory season as they fall to 9-18 with only one game remaining. That one game will be the #1 ranked team in the nation in Division 1, Mountain State. Mountain State defeated the Racers 88-68 in their previous meeting at UNOH. This meeting is set for February 21st at 7:00 PM.
