The University of Northwestern Ohio, the leader in High Performance Motorsports education, has built two modified cars that will perform in the UMP Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park in February driven by two previous Limaland Motorsports Park champions, Todd Sherman and Terry Hill, and crewed by university students. Eleven High Performance UNOH students will accompany the drivers to crew the two vehicles during the competition in the 2008 Dirt Car Nationals racing UMP Modifieds February 5 through February 12, 2008, at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. In addition, 43 UNOH students will be working as pit crew members for numerous ARCA teams competing in the ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway February 5-9, 2008. According to UNOH President, Dr. Jeffrey A. Jarvis, "The University draws students from all 50 states and sixteen foreign countries, and we have recently had an influx of students interested in our High Performance Motorsports Programs from Florida. By building and racing vehicles in Florida that will be crewed by UNOH High Performance Motorsports students, the University hopes to encourage both interested prospective students and local Florida high school instructors to check out what UNOH has to offer them." UNOH offers a four year regionally accredited degree program in High Performance/Motorsports, and is the only university that owns and operates its own race track facility, "Limaland Motorsports Park". |
