Alex was named 1^st Team All-Conference his senior year at Madison Comprehensive High School, which was ranked 11^th in the state of Ohio. This very decorative player added one more accolade to his well established list during his 2010 campaign being named "Defensive Player of the Year." "Alex showed his willingness to change old habits and grow as a college baseball player this fall. His countless hours before and after practice proved to be immeasurable as he fielded .980 this October."

Alex is the son of Jerry Czernewski and Shannon Gilcrest who reside in Mansfield, Ohio
