Kyle Menchhofer
Head Coach
1st Season

The University of Northwestern Ohio announced their second Head Coach for women's basketball on Wednesday, March 30th. The UNOH Racers have removed the interim tag from Kyle Menchhofer as he will become the Head Women's Basketball Coach beginning with the 2011-12 season.

"This is a once in a life time experience, and I am honored and humbled for the opportunity to be named the Head Women's Coach at the University of Northwestern Ohio. I would like to thank Dr. Jeff Jarvis and the UNOH Community for giving me the opportunity to coach at a university that embraces the family concept of teamwork," stated newly promoted Head Coach Kyle Menchhofer.

Kyle Menchhofer was named the Interim Head Coach on November 15th, 2010 after the retirement of former head coach Rick Bowersock. Menchhofer made his college coaching debut on November 19th, the Lady Racers dominated cross town foe, OSU-Lima Rhodes State, by a final of 110-12. Head coach Kyle Menchhofer and the Lady Racers finished the rest of the season with a record of 13-13. Coach Menchhofer felt last season has helped him gain his confidence to be the Lady Racers head coach, "I want to thank the twelve players and coaching staff (Julie McCollough and Mike Armbruster) of the 2010-11 season for the opportunity to coach this past season. They gave me confidence and played hard no matter what the score was. It was an honor and a privilege to coach and teach the game of basketball to these ladies."

Coach Menchhofer's previous four years at UNOH has instilled his personality and coaching throughout the university. UNOH's President, Dr. Jeffrey Jarvis, stated "Kyle Menchhofer has been a part of the University of Northwestern Ohio for four years and is the type of individual I like to surround myself with. He stepped up this past season with taking over our Women's Basketball team mid-season and it is an easy decision to make him our Head Women's Basketball Coach on a permanent basis. In addition to Chris', and my opinions; the players, faculty, and staff endorsed Kyle Menchhofer as our coach."

Kyle Menchhofer has spent the previous four seasons as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach under Head Coach and Director of Athletics, Chris Adams. In the past four seasons, the Racers have totaled a record of 53-69. Head Coach Chris Adams thoughts on the promoting of Coach Menchhofer, "Kyle Menchhofer brings a wealth of experience to the UNOH Women's Basketball program. He has outstanding rapport with his players. He is the type of coach who is firm, yet really cares about his players. He's a genuine person and the players feed off that."

Menchhofer came to UNOH with 16 years of coaching experience. Menchhofer has spent those 16 years at all different levels within the high school levels. Before arriving at UNOH Coach Menchhofer was the head coach at New Knoxville High School for two seasons, and in those two seasons, he led the Rangers to two sectional titles. Menchhofer also spent two seasons as the varsity assistant coach at Elida under Coach Adams. Menchhofer wanted to thank all of his previous mentors, "There have been a number of influences in my basketball coaching experience that I need to thank: Gale Daugherty and Joe Campoli - Ohio Northern University, Steve Moore - College of Wooster, Chris Adams - UNOH/Elida, my dad - Bill Menchhofer - long time girls head coach, and Mike Kanney - Head Coach Celina/Coldwater. These men taught me the game of basketball and the values in which is instilled such as hard work, dedication, preparation, and loyalty. These are the same values that I intend to pass along to current and future players at the University of Northwestern Ohio."

Menchhofer received his bachelor's degree in Business Education from The Ohio State University. He also received a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from The Unviersity of Findlay. Menchhofer is married to Kim and they have three children, Kylee, Kami, and Kassie.
