LIMA - The University of Northwestern men's soccer team turned around its season with a pair of wins last week, and goalkeeper Liam Davies was a backbone to both of those victories. For his efforts in wins over Concordia University and Indiana Tech, Davies was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

The Racers (5-6, 2-2 WHAC) rose from 10th place in the league standings to seventh. They beat Concordia on Wednesday in record-breaking fashion, 7-0. They followed that win with a 2-1 victory at Indiana Tech.

The win over the Cardinals was Davies' third shutout of the season. He registered three saves during the week. Davies is a freshman from Liverpool, England, and has started all 11 games for the Racers this season.

You have two chances to catch Davies and the Racers in home-field action this week. They host Marygrove College at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Davenport University at 3 p.m. Saturday.
