FORT WAYNE, Ind. - It's been a week of firsts for the University of Northwestern Ohio men's soccer team. After putting up seven goals Wednesday, the Racers won their second straight match Saturday with a 2-1 win at Indiana Tech; it's the first time the Racers have won multiple games in a row.
The Racers record stands at 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. After beginning the week in 10th place in the conference, UNOH is currently in seventh.
Malakai Field put the Racers on the board first with a goal at the 29:27 mark of the match. The freshman forward leads UNOH with four goals, tied with Wesley Cain, who scored the game-winning goal at 71:39. Cain assisted on Field's goal, and Field returned the favor with an assist on Cain's goal.
The Racers out-shot Indiana Tech (6-4-1, 2-2-1 WHAC) 17-7.
Racers goalkeeper Liam Davies notched his third shutout of the season with one save.
UNOH is back to work with two WHAC home matches this week, first at 4 p.m. Wednesday against Marygrove College and at 3 p.m. Saturday against Davenport University.
