GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The University of Northwestern Ohio men's soccer team ended at four-game road trip with a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup at Cornerstone University on Saturday, and the Golden Eagles squeezed out a 1-0 win.
The Racers are 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference, going 1-3 on the road swing. Cornerstone remained atop the WHAC with a 3-0 conference mark and a 6-2-1 overall record.
The lone goal of the game came midway through the first half as Jesse Pipe headed in a corner kick. It was one of nine Cornerstone corner kicks, and one of 19 shots. The Racers had 16 shots.
UNOH forward Malakai Field was a busy man, credited with eight shots, four on goal. Jorge Miguens had three shots and Gianni Manca added two.
Goalkeeper Liam Davies had three saves for the Racers.
Northwestern Ohio hosts Concordia University at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Racers first WHAC home match.
