PORTSMOUTH - The University of Northwestern Ohio men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals as the Racers broke a two-match losing streak with a 3-1 win at Shawnee State University on Wednesday.

The Racers improved to 3-5 on the season, winning their first road game. Shawnee State fell to 1-9.

Malakai Field and Wesley Cain each scored their second goals of the season, and Adam Waern scored the first in his UNOH career. Waern's goal was on a penalty kick late in the first half to tie the match at 1-1.

Field scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute when Danny Roberts hit him with a cross in the box. Cain scored seven minutes later off a Gianni Manca corner kick.

Goalkeeper Liam Davies allowed one goal and made five saves in 90 minutes of action. Shawnee State scored first in the 26th minute.

The Racers travel to Cornerstone University on Saturday for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup. They are back home at 4 p.m. Wednesday with a WHAC match against Concordia University.
