LIMA - With the chance to become the first NAIA volleyball team to win 20 games this season, there was no stopping the University of Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday. The Lady Racers fought off a hard challenge from Urbana University, and UNOH moved to 20-1 with their 17th-straight win in a 3-0 victory against the Blue Knights. Individual set scores were 25-19, 25-12, 25-18.
With 20 wins, the Lady Racers are two wins ahead of Indiana East and Bellevue (Neb.) for most wins in the NAIA. UNOH appeared in the Tachikara-NAIA Top 25 poll for the third straight week when it was released earlier Tuesday.
Northwestern Ohio was on point all night, totaling a .330 attacking percentage and 59 digs. Brittany Egbert had 14 kills and a .706 attacking percentage, which sets a new UNOH match record. Casey Gates had 13 kills with a .462 attacking percentage.
Lauren Maxwell had 36 assists and 11 digs. Ellie Comes had 15 digs while Lauren Macuga and Gates each had 10 digs.
The Lady Racers had four blocks and held Urbana (1-13) to a .076 attacking percentage and 16 attacking errors.
UNOH plays its next three matches in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, Wednesday at Lourdes University, Saturday at Siena Heights University and next Wednesday in a home match against Davenport University.
