ANN ARBOR, Mich. - In running out to the best record in school history, the University of Northwestern Ohio had defeated nearly all takers. On Wednesday, the Lady Racers leaped over another hurdle with a 3-0 win at Concordia University to open up Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.
The Lady Racers are 16-1 overall and now 1-0 in the WHAC. They appeared in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll with nine votes.
As usual, it was a complete team effort for UNOH. Emily Crowell and Casey Gates each had 11 kills, with Crowell adding three blocks and Gates totaling seven digs. Brittany Egbert had 10 kills and five blocks.
Lauren Maxwell had 34 assists and 11 digs, and Ellie Comes had 18 digs.
The Lady Racers had a .269 attacking percentage as a team, with only 16 errors. They also had nine blocks. They had 55 digs and only one service reception error.
Next up for the Lady Racers is a home match at 7 p.m. September 19 against UM-Dearborn. The match is also a pediatric cancer benefit match, with all money raised donated to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus for childhood cancer research.
