LIMA - It was a night on the track to quickly forget and put behind for the University of Northwestern Ohio High Performance Motorsports team, but the Racers made a mark with a fellow competitor in the pits.

When Jake Reufer left his K&N UMP Modified heat with his car no longer working, he stepped into the No. 00 UNOH car to keep his hopes for a Limaland Motorsports Park points title alive; he entered the night in third place, just 18 points out of first place.

The car was driven by Matthew Custer in the heat race, and despite this being the only chance the crew chief got to drive this season, he chose to give up his seat for Ruefer's benefit.

Reufer finished 15th in the 20-lap feature race, and unfortunately for the Racers, that was the best a University car managed. Both Kody Weisner and Ryan O'Dette left the race early; Weisner finished 17th and O'Dette 21st unofficially. For official results, visit http://www.limaland.com/.

The night started out well for Weisner and O'Dette. In their respective heat races, O'Dette started fifth and finished third while Weisner started second and came in third. Custer finished sixth in his heat race.

It was a tough go from the start in the feature. Off the start, Weisner and O'Dette connected in the first turn, sending Weisner to the tail while O'Dette left the race when his engine wouldn't fire. However, Weisner made quick work of the field, moving from 20th and passing for the fourth position when he found the wall on the back stretch.

In the Bud Thunderstocks division, Luke Schostkewitz finished second and Brad Kemp third in their heat, and Josh Sutter came in fourth and Sebastian Font was fifth in their heat.

Schostkewitz and Kemp were running in the top four early in the 15-lap feature, but Kemp spun out and went to the tail of the field and Schostkewitz lost ground from his third-place spot. Schostkewitz finished the feature in 10th, Kemp in 13th, Font was 15th and Sutter 16th; all finished the race.

The Motorsports team is back in action next Friday night for the next-to-last night of racing at Limaland Motorsports Park. It's a long week for the team members; most of them will be in Tennessee for the running of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour UNOH Perfect Storm 150 and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NCWTS 200 - a UNOH double-header - both Wednesday at Bristol Motor Speedway. You can catch the action live on the SPEED Channel.
