ATTICA - With no racing Friday night at Limaland Motorsports Park, the University of Northwestern Ohio Motorsports team loaded up its two modified cars and traveled to Attica Raceway Park. Ryan O'Dette continued his improvement through his first season as a driver, taking fifth place in the Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds 25-lap feature.
It marked O'Dette's best finish this season, bettering his sixth-place finish at Limaland on May 25, and it was his third top-10 finish. O'Dette finished second in his heat race.
"The heat race, we definitely made our changes right away and it helped us," O'Dette said. "We've been going further and further with our set-up, trying new things. Like anything else, this was a new experience. … I missed the cautions and slowly picked up everyone in front of me. Overall, the car was really good and I feel I've learned enough to put the car in the position where it was (Friday)."

Kody Weisner ran into some bad luck in the feature when his left rear brake line failed, sending him to the pits early and a 14th-place finish. It broke a string of four straight top-8 finishes, including a fifth place at Waynesfield Motor Sports Park on July 3.
For O'Dette, the entire season has been a learning experience, and he feels his two weeks away from Limaland racing different tracks will help once the team returns to Limaland on July 20. While Limaland is a quarter-mile track, both Attica and Waynesfield are 1/3-mile tracks.
"You have to turn the car at some point no matter how long the straights are," O'Dette said. "It's nice going somewhere else and learning another track and how to drive that track. I can't wait to go back to Limaland and apply what I've learned at both tracks.
"I've got the laps at Limaland, the ins and outs, the do's and don'ts, so we're getting there slowly but surely, I'm ready for the next few weeks. I think it's going to be good."
