LIMA - The University of Northwestern Ohio women's tennis held on to top Aquinas College 5-3 in a NAIA Unaffiliated Group semifinal Friday at Westwood Tennis Center. The Lady Racers held a 2-1 lead after the doubles but saw the Saints rally for a 3-3 tie before Nathalia Da Silva and Jessie Stambaugh won their singles matches for the win.
The Lady Racers advance to the NAIA Unaffiliated Group final match against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference rival Davenport University at 9 a.m. Saturday at Westwood. Davenport defeated UNOH in the WHAC Championship final match last week.
Shaye Warman and Shaleigh McClintock won a close match at first doubles in a tiebreaker, and Tara Carr and Andrea Arango won at third doubles for the UNOH lead.
The Saints won matches at first and third singles, and McClintock won her singles match for the tie. Da Silva won at fourth singles and Stambaugh won at fifth singles for the overall match win.
The Lady Racers improved their record to 15-9.
