SYLVANIA - Lourdes University came out of the gates on fire and used a solid first half to send the University of Northwestern Ohio men's basketball team to a 78-71 loss on Wednesday

It was the Racers sixth straight loss and dropped them to 5-14 overall and 1-8 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. They are 1-7 on the road this season. During the losing streak, the Racers have lost five of the games by 10 or fewer points.

The Gray Wolves (11-10, 5-5 WHAC) shot 15-of-22 from the floor (68 percent) in the first half. John Willhite and John Washington each scored 12 points for Lourdes, going 10-of-12 from the field, as their squad built a 37-32 lead.

Willhite, Corey Harvey and Marcus Outlaw all scored 16 points to lead Lourdes. Washington and Remy Fleurima each added 15 points.

Jake Bolyard had 17 points for the Racers, 14 coming in the second half. The sophomore guard went 2-of-3 from 3-point distance after halftime and made 6-of-8 free throws.

Todd Watkins added 14 points and six rebounds, Dustin Guthrie had 12 points and Johnny Elliott had 11 points. Chris Cromity came off the bench to score 11 points, with three 3-pointers.

The Racers end a three-game road trip when they host Cornerstone University at 3 p.m. Saturday.
