No. 8 Menís Golf Victorious at Stonehedge

AUGUSTA, Mich.  – Sitting in third place entering the final day of the Shootout at Stonehedge, the NAIA No. 6 University of Northwestern Ohio men's golf team looked to move upward on the leaderboards in the final tune-up of the season.

UNOH managed to drop 11 strokes from the first day to secure the event championship with a 15-over 591 (301, 290). Madonna University fell to second place with a 602 (297, 305) while the host Lawrence Technological University took third with a 604 (298, 306).

The Racers were led the individual champion Lewis Scott who shot an even-par 144 (74, 70). Kaleb Kuhn followed in a tie for third at 148 (73, 75) while Ian Clement added another top five finish with a 149 (76, 73) of his own. Philip Fransson rounded out the second day's scoring with a round of 73 to finish tied for 14th place with a two-day 152. Gonzalo Garcia-Parada also posted a 152 (78, 74) to tie with Fransson.

UNOH secondary team was led by Andres Tamayo-Bautista's 149 (75, 74) as he tied for fifth. As a group, they posted a 622 (306, 316) which would have placed them in sixth. The third team would have taken the 11 spot with a 644 (318, 326) as it was led by Samual Corns' 156 (79, 77).

The next event for the Racers is the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Lawrence Tech. The event will also be played at the Stonehedge courses in Augusta. Day one starts on Monday, April 24 as UNOH looks to defend its 2016 championship.
