No. 21 Women’s Golf Wins Second Straight Tournament

AUGUSTA, Mich. – After shooting a 326 and tied for first through day one, the NAIA No. 21 University of Northwestern Ohio women's golf team looked to capture the title at the Shootout at Stonehedge for its second straight tournament victory of the season.

The Racers dropped three strokes from their first-day performance to finish with a two-day total of 649 (326, 323). After tying with UNOH in day one, Siena Heights University was unable to keep up with the Racers as the Saints posted their second round of 326 to finish three strokes behind the victorious UNOH squad.

Cardinal Stritch University finished in third with a 653 (331, 322) while the host school Lawrence Technological University took fourth at 660 (334, 326).

Individually, Brianna Baird led the Racers with a fourth place finish by shooting a +14 158 (83, 75). Caitriona Griffin followed with a 162 (82, 80) while Rebekah Rader also posted a 162 (78, 84) as the two finished in a five-way tie for seventh place. Faithe Carr rounded out the team's scoring with a 16th place finish with a 23-over 167 (83, 84).

Also competing for the Racers was Morgan Barnett, Natalia Quintero, and Lauren Crooks. Barnett finished in 19th place while Quintero and Crooks followed in ties for 20th and 24th, respectively.

Hannah Stradling of CSU took the individual title with a nine-over 153 (76, 77).

Day two of the event was played on the par 72, 5,868-yard Stonehedge Golf Club – North course following the first day at the South course.

The Racers will return to the same courses for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship which starts on Friday, April 21. The conference event will be three round and is hosted by Lourdes University.
