No. 5 Racers Prevail at LTU

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The NAIA No. 5 University of Northwestern Ohio women's tennis team visited Lawrence Technological University on Saturday for its second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup in as many days.

UNOH (15-5, 4-0 WHAC) prevailed despite surrendering two points by default as the Racers claimed a 5-2 victory over the Blue Devils (9-11, 2-3 WHAC).

The Racers claimed both of the active doubles points to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. UNOH first claimed an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles as Raquel Marques and Ana Lacerda defeated the pairing of Ana Hernandez-Munt and Brittany Schmidt. Meanwhile, the Oracle/ITA No. 9 pairing of Alisa Reshetnikova and Amanda Schneider wrapped up doubles with an 8-2 triumph at the top spot.

In singles, UNOH continued to roll in singles as the Racers swept the top three spots to lock in the team victory. Marques picked up the first point with a quick 6-0, 6-1 decision at third singles while No. 21 Reshetnikova secured a pair of 6-1 sets at two singles. The match was finalized as 12th-ranked Schneider claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory at first singles.

The next matchup for UNOH is slated for Tuesday, April 18 as the Racers visit Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Cardinals of Concordia University. The WHAC contest is scheduled for an 11 AM start.
