LIMA, Ohio – The University of Northwestern Ohio Women's Tennis Team hosted the Denison College Big Red for the Racers' home-opening contest on Saturday morning.
UNOH (2-2) raced past the Big Red (0-1) with a 7-2 victory at the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.
In doubles competition, the Racers claimed an early 2-1 lead by taking the first and second positions. Alisa Reshetnikova and Amanda Schneider claimed an 8-2 decision at first doubles while Vladica Djurdjevic and Raquel Marques proved victorious at No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
At No. 6 singles, Whitney Vispoel provided the Racers with their fourth third point by taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory. A 6-0, 6-1 win by Reshetnikova and a 6-3, 6-0 triumph for Raquel Marques at second and fourth singles, respectively, sealed the team victory.
Djurdjevic added a 6-3, 6-0 win at three singles while Amanda Schneider power through for a 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) triumph at the top position.
UNOH's next contest is in Ypsilanti, Mich. as the Racers take on NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University with a head-to-head matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 PM on Friday, Feb. 17.
