LIVONIA, Mich. – After posting an 80-79 victory over the third-ranked and defending NAIA champion Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats, the University of Northwestern Ohio men's basketball team added its second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor of the season with Sadeeq Bello's first career honor.
The junior guard from Greensboro, N.C. was a big asset to the Racers' victory with 24 points on the game while shooting 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. It was his clutch performance at the line which made him stand apart from everyone else as Bello converted all 12 of his free throw attempts, tying a school best for most free throws made in a single game without missing. Half of the free throws came within the final 2:11 of the contest with the final two putting UNOH up with six second on the clock. He also played a pivotal role at the top of the offense and defense with a pair of assists and steals while pulling down five total rebounds.
The award is the second straight for the men's basketball program as Lawrence Jackson was honored in the most recent edition on Dec. 19. Kari Borowiak of Concordia University (Mich.) was honored on the women's side after scoring her 1,000th career point.
