BELMONT, Mich. – The University of Northwestern Ohio women's golf team concluded play in the fall season as the Racers competed at the final day of the Battle in Belmont event hosted by Davenport University.

The Golfstat No. 16 Racers took second place in the event shooting a +67 643 and finished behind Madonna University (+46 622 - 307, 315) which used a pair of big days to hold onto the lead. The Racers had a pair of players shoot under par on their last nine holes to secure the lead over Wayne State University in third.

"We struggled a bit in this tournament both days. We started off slow today but battled back," said Racers' head coach Dawn West. "We had two players shoot under par on their last nine holes to help us hold off Wayne State University which was trying to catch us."

UNOH was led by Rebekah Rader who finished fifth in the event behind a 14-over 158 (78, 80). Caitriona Griffin's +16 160 (82, 78) placed her in eighth while Natalia Quintero was in 12th with a +18 162 (83, 79). Brianna Baird wrapped up the scoring with a 19-over 163 (80, 83).

The Racers won three of their last four events and posted their best finish in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference earlier in the season, but West still seeks continued improvement for her program.

"We had a great fall season, but we know we have a lot of work left to do in the offseason if we're going to make a run for the NAIA National Championship in May," she concluded. "We're looking forward to the challenge."
