FT. WAYNE, Ind. – Last season, the University of Northwestern women's golf program was victorious at the USF Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Saint Francis, and the Racers looked to repeat as champions after posting a record-breaking 295 on the first day.

Even though the event moved courses to the Cherry Hill Golf Club, UNOH posted yet another fantastic round of 309 on Saturday to end the event with a two-day 604 and held a 13 stroke lead on its way to taking first place. USF finished behind UNOH with a 617 (305, 312) while Indiana Wesleyan took third with a 624 (304, 320).

The team continually impressive performances have head coach Dawn West pleased with her players.

"I am very proud of how these ladies took the lead right away in round one and then finished the tournament by not only winning the event but having the low round both days," she said. "That shows we can take it wire-to-wire."

Brianna Baird led UNOH with a +4 148 after posting a pair of 74s and finished in second overall. Natalia Quintero held her ground from the first day in fourth place with a +7 151 (74-77). After posting a record-breaking 71 at Cobblestone Golf Club on Friday, Caitriona Griffin recorded an 82 on Saturday and finished with a +9 153 in a two-way tie for sixth place. Rounding out the scoring for UNOH was Faithe Carr with a 157 (+13) in a five-way tie for 11th place. Rebekah Rader jumped 19 spots to 24th with a second day round of 77 for a two-day total of 162.

"Brianna has had a tremendous start to her UNOH career finishing runner-up today. She continues to be a contender at every event we are at," added West.

Along with Baird's runner-up finish, West continued to praise her entire roster.

"They continue to set team goals higher and higher each time we are out they continue to accomplish the new goals they have set. All 13 team members work very hard at practice pushing each other to be better," said West. "It was a complete team win today, those who played and those who were home should celebrate this win."

The next event for the Racers is the WHAC Jamboree #3 hosted by Aquinas College. The two-day event will begin on Oct. 7 and will take place in Wyoming, Mich. at the Kaufman Lake Golf Club.
