KENDALLVILLE, Ind. – The University of Northwestern Ohio women's golf team opened play at the first day of the USF Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Saint Francis. The first round was played at the Cobblestone Golf Club.

Through the first day, the Racers lead the field of 10 teams with a program record-breaking 295 on the day. Indiana Wesleyan University sits in second place with a 304 while USF is in third with a 305 followed by Bethel College in fourth at 309. Taylor University rounds out the top-five with a 314.

Caitriona Griffin leads the Racers with a -1 71 through 18 holes and sits in second place one stroke behind Nikki Lalonde of USF. The performance breaks a four-way tie for lowest round by an individual player by four strokes. The record was previously shared by Faithe Carr, Brianna Baird, and Rebekah Rader, who has notched a pair of 75s in her career.

Baird is in a five-way tie for fourth place along with teammate Natalia Quintero with a +2 74. The pair is now tied for second-lowest round in program history behind only Griffin's performance. Rounding out the scoring for UNOH is Carr with a +4 76 and in a seven-way tie for ninth place.

UNOH will look to claim the team championship on Saturday as the team returns for day two of the USF Fall Invitational. The Racers will have to adjust to a new course as the event moves to Cherry Hill Golf Club in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
