GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Last year, Daniel Rueda won the singles competition at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional tournament. This year, the sophomore teamed up with Ronnie Myburgh to win the doubles title Saturday at Davenport University.
Rueda and Myburgh won their title with a 9-7 win over Kyle Johnson and Brandon Dubuque of Indiana Wesleyan University. The full results from the weekend can be viewed at this link.
Rueda made the third round of the singles competition before falling to teammate Thommy Johansson 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. Johansson fell in the quarterfinals to Balazs Pirot of Goshen College, 3-6, 6-3, 10-3.
On the women's side, Andrea Arango and Kate Bondarenko each earned spots in the quarterfinals. Arango fell to Emily Spiech of Davenport, 6-3, 5-7, 11-9, while Bondarenko bowed out to Brittney Horlacher of Marian University 6-3, 5-7, 10-5.
Shaleigh McClintock and Raquel Marques advanced to the doubles competition quarterfinals before falling to Horlacher and Hannah Knust of Marian, 8-3. Arango and Bondarenko made it to the consolation quarterfinals before losing to Kim Henke and Katherine Marquez of Taylor University, 8-6.

The UNOH tennis teams will close out their fall seasons in two weeks when they host Taylor at 3 p.m. September 24 and Tiffin University at 3 p.m. September 25.
