LIMA - The University of Northwestern Ohio men's and women's bowling team recently signed Xavier Armstrong, Heather Austin, Miranda Blaylock and Thomas Brusseau for the 2012-13 season.
Armstrong comes to UNOH from Cuyahoga Falls High School in Akron, Ohio. He is majoring in High Performance Automotive at Northwestern Ohio.
"Xavier has been coached very well in his home center, and proved that with a nice performance at our scholarship tournament," UNOH head coach Todd Book said.
Austin is from Lebanon High School in Ohio, where she was named second-team All-America, team MVP and most improved player. She will major in Heath Information Technology at UNOH.
"Heather showed her true colors in winning the UNOH scholarship tournament handicap division, as she is a true competitor," Book said. "She will be a great asset to the team."
Blaylock is another Ohio high school product, heading to UNOH from Wauseon High School. She rolled to a second place finish in the Port Clinton Tournament, and she was named second-team All-Conference at Wauseon and earned most improved average. She is majoring in Agribusiness Marketing/Management Technology at Northwestern Ohio.
"Miranda competed with the Racers in the 2010-2011 season and has a good game with a positive attitude," Book said. "We are looking forward to having Miranda back as a Racer."
Brusseau is coming to UNOH from John Glenn High School in Westland, Michigan. He has rolled three 300 games, two 800 series and 10 700 series. He won the Mach Memorial Scholarship Tournament, earning a $1,000 scholarship in the process. He is majoring in Automotive Technology at UNOH.
"Thomas is a very good power player with several honor scores and a lot of tournament experience," Book said. "It is an honor to have Tom join the Racers."
